Abstract

Policy makers in India find tremendous untapped investment potential among middle class households. Investment refers to sacrificing a certain value in the present for a future uncertain reward. In the present scenario of economic prosperity, Indian middle class has emerged as one of active investors having surplus income at their disposal. They are aware of the various benefits of investment such as tax savings or precaution against any uncertainty and improving future standard of living. Depending on their needs and risk taking capabilities, they select various investment assets. The present study aims at exploring the investment behavior of middle class households in Indore to reflect the influence of demographic profiles on investment behavior. Data are collected on the basis of self structured questionnaire and processed to find the difference in choice of investment instruments by different age groups and gender of the middle class households in Indore. This study can be helpful to the investors, marketers, financial planners and government.

Abstract

In an Indian family system ample number of studies done with more than generation residing together. They have highly focused on the role of intergenerational relations and parenting, in value transmission, offspring socialization and children development. But understanding the effect of parenting style on their children regarding intergenerational support needs to be bought into focus. The purpose of this study was to explore the role of parenting and emotional regulation in the intergenerational support system among adolescents. The sample included 430 undergraduate teenagers (70% male, 30% female). Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ); emotional regulation questionnaire (ERQ); Experience in close relationship-Relationship structure Questionnaire (ECR-RS) and intergenerational support scale was administered. Results showed parenting style to have a significant effect on the children and their perspective towards intergenerational support. Dominant relationship pattern between emotional regulation and value for the intergenerational support was also evident in the study.

Abstract

Parental socialization is one of the remarkable ways in which children begin to learn about right and wrong. Drawing on the relevant theoretical and empirical literature we look at the ways in which parent inculcate moral values in children. In particular, the study explores the parental practices and the characteristics of the parent-child relationship that shapes the moral affect, behaviour and cognition in children. The article reviews some key investigations in the area of moral socialization and highlights some important yet overlooked or understudied aspects of parental moral socialization that requires scholarly attention.
